The guided character builder, interactive digital character sheet, shared dice rolling and group sheets are on the way for The One Ring™ RPG, plus content sharing and more on the short term roadmap.
The Backerkit campaign is underway for the epic campaign expansion The White Tower and the Hall of Gold, the bestiary Creatures Strange and Foul, and the updated Core Rules.
We are happy to offer the Unbound digital modules of all three, as well as the entire The One Ring range of Free League Unbound modules as add-ons in the campaign. The three new volumes are available as heavily-discounted add-ons to the printed books, so back it today!
We are pleased to share that the Character Tools for The One Ring™ will launch before the end of the Backerkit campaign, allowing you to build and manage all your characters with easy-to-follow steps, contextual guidance, resource tracking, and more in the character builder and digital character sheet.
Look for a campaign update, or keep an eye out here, to know when the Character Tools are introduced into Early Access.
Beyond the character builder and interactive digital character sheet, the short term roadmap in the coming weeks for The One Ring will introduce Groups, Content Sharing, and Shared Dice Rolls, followed closely by tools to help manage Journeys and the Fellowship Phase during play.
Once the character tools are available, you will be able to try them out for free with a few limited options, and any options you have already unlocked in relevant products on Unbound will be useable at no additional cost.
All Free League Unbound accounts will be able to create an unlimited number of characters with the content they have available to them, now and forevermore.
Once the content sharing feature is available later in the Early Access phase, you will also be able to share the content you own with up to five others in your group for free. More information about content sharing will be provided upon release in the next few weeks.
Now for a peek at what's coming with the Character Tools!
You will create and access all of your characters (for The One Ring™ and all other games going forward) from the Characters top nav menu.
Upon creating a new character, you land on your character sheet with a sidebar dock that contains the character creation steps provided in the Core Rules. On larger screens, you can follow along with the choices you make right on your sheet to give you the proper context. You can also build and play a character on the fly even on the go on your phone or tablet.
The entire character sheet is interactive, allowing you to quickly reference information in the right sidebar by clicking or tapping on labels and content. Any areas that prompt rolls, such as Skills, Protection, or Useful Items, allow you to add the appropriate dice to the dice roller. You can also modify a roll to make it Favoured or Ill-favoured, or gain or lose dice, or queue up a custom roll. Dice roll in 3D on your screen, or you can adjust the settings to retrieve only the results.
You can select from six initial themes for your sheet to embody your character's essence. Other customizations, such as selecting different dice skins, will be available in the future too!
In the weeks following the initial introduction of the Character Tools for The One Ring™, the next major feature to launch will be Groups. These allow you to connect with others to form a party. Once that connection is forged, it will power content sharing with the books you own, shared dice rolling and results, and shared "sheets" to support group activities in the game like Journeys and Fellowship Undertakings.

After groups, content sharing, shared rolls, and shared sheets are in place, we will move to provide the same for the other three games that are currently available in Early Access – ALIEN: The Roleplaying Game, Coriolis: The Great Dark, and Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying.
Establishing the framework for the Character Tools for the first game will be the hardest part of the development cycle, so we expect to be able to move pretty quickly on that front. in parallel, we will start introducing additional games to Unbound from the catalog...starting with the oft-requested Dragonbane!
